Duff Out But We'll Be Fine

Mark Hughes has revealed that Damien Duff is set to miss out on the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his Achilles injury.

Speaking to Fulhamfc.com, manager Hughes explained that Duff's road to recovery should be 'simple' and that he will be back well in time for the opener of 2011/12's Premier League campaign.

"Damien has had an operation on his Achilles and the view is that his recovery will be six weeks. He'll be fit and well for next season. It should be pretty straightforward.

"We've been managing it [the Achilles injury] through the season and in fairness he's done really well with it. In the end we made the decision that the best route was to get it sorted now.

"He's actually had the operation done by the same guy that did Bobby Zamora's last year so we have every confidence he'll be back in the time stated."

Sad news of course, but, nonetheless, the squad should be well capable of seeing the season out. With the double D's of Davies and Dempsey on the wings, we're more than adequately adept to handling Duff's injury problems and the only reward at steak for us in the final few games are a higher league standing and a sufficiently favourable disciplinary record.

I wish the Irishman all the best and a happy return come next season!
