New Fulham striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has stated his desire to earn a contract that extends beyond this season and also suggested that, were he to stay, he'd relish a trophy win in any way shape or form.

The Russian forward has proved himself to be a player of genuine quality in his two outings for the Cottagers so far, scoring two goals in two games and providing the kind of hold up play that made Bobby Zamora such a popular asset in SW6. Despite the impression he has made in South West London, however, he still remains on a six month deal and he is keen to extend his stay well beyond that.

Speaking to Russia's Sports Daily, the 28 year-old said: "I can't complain, things have started very well. The move was very difficult. I had to think, first because I was relocating my family, and also because I was offered a contract only for six months. Now, of course, I have no regrets.

"I wanted to sign a long-term contract. The club wanted to see how I would adapt in the Premier League, because the German and English championships are very different. The management wanted to play safe."

And with his intention to prolong his period at the club comes an ambition to succeed with the Whites: "I think I can win something with Fulham. We have a chance to qualify for the Europa League, and in England there are many cups."
