Come on Blackpool!

No doubt if you happen to switch on Sky Sports today, along with the Champions League final, you will be hearing about the Championship play off game between Blackpool and West Ham (insert cliche here - 40 million pound game, the largest money game in fotball, etc, etc) which is played at Wembley today.

For selfish (and footballiing) reasons, I want Blackpool to triumph today. Being based in the Northwest, we've lost 2 of the local clubs to us in Bolton and Blackburn so it would be nice to have another local club to visit next season. I don't mind admitting that 2 years ago, this away game was the 1st one I looked for when the fixtures were announced in June. It was perfect as well, Blackpool's 1st home game in the Premier League and it being played in August. Yes, the turnstiles didn't work properly when we arrived but it was a fantastic game, topped off by a beautiful Fulham chipped goal by Etuhu to equalise.

Post game, it was a trip to the arcades with my young son followed by Fish and Chips on a freezing, blustery promenade (It was August afterall!). Both my son and I were hoping that Blackpool could stay up the the season before last so we could replicate the trip but alas they failed to stay up. I hope today though, we can again look forward to scouring the new fixture list in June for the away trip in Blackpool and put it in firmly in the diary.

Blackpool played some wonderful attacking football that season which was a joy to watch at times and they've done brilliantly to get to the play off final after losing influential players like Adam and Vaughan.

Come on Blackpool, give us all another trip to the seaside!
