The U.S. National Team played their last friendly match against Turkey before leaving for South Africa. The game took place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The U.S. won the match 2 - 1. The winning goal came from Clint Dempsey in the 75th minute of the match. He was set up very nicely from a great pass from Landon Donovan. Dempsey stormed his way past the Turkey defense to blast a shot by the goalkeeper.

This was an uneven game from the United States. The first half saw Turkey with much more possession. In the 27th minute, Arda Turan scored for Turkey. They really controlled the first half and deserved to be up at the half 1 - 0.

The second half saw a completely different performance from the United States. Many key substitutes in the second half led to a more offensive performance. Jose Torres and Robbie Findley made a big difference helping the U.S. gain possession in the second half.

The U.S. tied the game in the 59th minute. Landon Donovan made a great run and sent a beautiful pass to a wide open Jozy Altidore. Jozy struck the ball into the net and the game was tied 1 - 1.

As I mentioned earlier, in the 75th minute the U.S. took the lead. Landon Donovan again made a nice pass to Fulham's Clint Dempsey.  Clint was inside the penalty box when he struck the winning goal past the Turkey goalkeeper.  He almost scored a second goal very late in the match. He was set up again nicely this time by Michael Bradley. Clint Dempsey's shot this time hit the post. The game ended a little later with a United States  2 - 1 victory.

The U.S. were much more attacking in the second half. Overall, they deserved the victory. The U.S. team leave tomorrow for South Africa.

The U.S play one more friendly match against Australia in South Africa. Fulham players Clint Dempsey and Mark Schwarzer will be on opposite sides in this final warm up before the beginning of the World Cup.
