Let me start by saying for now on all speculative stories will go under the heading Cottagers Daily Rumor Mill. Unless there is confirmed information from an official member of a club these types of stories will have this heading. The rumors regarding the Liverpool coaching job just continue to turn. I wanted to share the latest. I have two conflicting rumors dealing with this Liverpool open position.
First, according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are inching closer to naming Roy Hodgson as their new manager. This article by John Edwards claims that an announcement is expected next week. Thst story states that it is believed that the Fulham Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed has agreed to let Hodgson go to Liverpool. It is stated that contact has already been made with Fulham. The story goes on to say that the Liverpool board has decided to go with Hodgson. According to the article the board did consider two other candidates and they are Kenny Dalglish and Manuel Pellegrini.
Second, I ran a story last night regarding Manuel Pellegrini emerging as a potential candidate for the Liverpool position. According to the Guardian, Manuel Pellegrini has discussed the open Liverpool coaching position with Kenny Dalglish. Pellegrini is the former Real Madrid coach. The Guardian article is insisting their was a meeting in England between Pellegrini and Dalglish.
The Guardian story does mention even though there are talks between Liverpool and Pellegrini, Roy Hodgson is still Liverpool's top candidate. The article states that an official approach by Liverpool regarding Roy Hodgson will happen next week.
So right now we have much speculation being written on who will be the new manager of Liverpool. I have shown two conflicting stories regarding the Liverpool job. For the fans of both Fulham and Liverpool let's hope a decision and announcement is made on the new manager of Liverpool as soon as possible. I will continue to update the speculation on this coaching job.
