Rumor Mill Update: Is It Fulham leading the way to sign Dieumerci Mbokani?

This is an update from an earlier Rumor Mill story I did today regarding Standard Liege striker Dieumerci Mbokani. The earlier story was information from a Daily Mail article that had Fulham closing in on signing Dieumerci Mbokani. The Daily Mail article also stated that Everton and West Ham had also shown interest in the player.

I just saw this other story that has quotes from the player and his agent. According to skysports.com, Dieumerci Mbokani is confirming that he is interested in making a deal to play for Fulham. The Skysports.com article has other interested teams in the player as Birmingham, West Ham, Everton and Roma.

The Skysports story also has quotes from the player from an interview by HLN. I have the quotes below.

"I knew that Fulham are interested, I also know that Lucien D'Onorfio promised to help me get a transfer a year ago and he will respect his word," he told HLN.

"I now hope that Standard will find common ground with Fulham, a club I feel is ideal."

The Skysports.com article also has a quote from the players agent  Fabio Baglio. The quotes are below.

"Fulham is not the only club interested in Dieumerci, but I consider Fulham the best option," he said.

"I assume that the management of Stanard and I will have contact once they have reached agreement and then everything will proceed."

From my prior article, the Congo International striker has some very good goal scoring numbers. Since 2007, he has scored 34 goals in 79 appearances. In international duty since 2006 he has scored 8 goals in 14 appearances. I think I can see why Fulham, Everton, West Ham, Birmingham City and Roma have shown interest.

This story I am sure will continue to evolve. The fact that according to the article, Dieumerci is interested in coming to Craven Cottage is extremely encouraging news. I will be following this story and will have an update when more information is available.
