Fulham Lose 1 - 0 To Portsmouth At Fratton Park

Fulham lost a friendly match today to Portsmouth 1 - 0 at Fratton Park. New Fulham manager Mark Hughes will be in training with the players on Monday. Today, he was watching the game from the stands. According to the game article on Fulhamfc.com, Portsmouth scored the only goal of the match off of a corner kick. In the 37th minute, Marc Wilson headed the corner kick by Matt Ritchie past Mark Schwarzer

According to the Fulhamfc.com article Bobby Zamora had a few quality chances to score.Unfortunately, he was not able to put the ball in the net. The bigger story of this match was the return of some key Fulham players from the World Cup. Making their pre-season debut was John Pantsil, Mark Schwarzer and Clint Dempsey. Fulham actually put out a very strong side to start the match.

The starting team for Fulham was as follows: Zamora, Gera, Davies, Murphy, Baird, Duff, Konchesky, Hughes, Hangeland, Pantsil, and Schwarzer.     

Mark Hughes did not see a victory from his new team today. However, his first game in the dugout for the Cottagers will be next Saturday's friendly at Craven Cottage against Werder Bremen. The game takes place at 3 PM UK time and 10 AM EST.
