Fulham Destroy Port Vale 6 - 0 in the Carling Cup

Fulham played league two club Port Vale today in the Carling Cup at Craven Cottage. Even with the pouring rain coming down, Fulham easily handled the visiting side. Fulham destroyed Port Vale 6 - 0.

Before the game began Mark Hughes made some interesting changes to the starting lineup. Youngster Matthew Briggs started at left back. Also, Moussa Dembele would make his first start at striker for Fulham. They would both be involved in goals today.  

It wouldn't take long for Fulham to score their first goal. In the10th minute, a cross from Matthew Briggs led to a header by Zoltan Gera that got past the goalkeeper. Fulham were up 1 - 0.

Moussa Dembele would double the score for Fulham in the 26th minute. He made a left footed strike from 20 yards away that went into the net. This goal was assisted by Zoltan Gera. Fulham were leading  2 - 0.

Bobby Zamora would get into the act with a goal in the 36th minute. His left footed strike was assisted by Zoltan Gera. Fulham were leading 3 - 0.

In stoppage time, Zoltan Gera would strike again to give Fulham their fourth goal of the game. Bobby Zamora assisted on this goal. Fulham were up 4 - 0. The half ended with the same score.

The second half saw two more goals scored by the Cottagers. In the 66th minute, Bobby Zamora scored on a free kick twenty yards away from net. Fulham were leading 5 - 0.

Clint Dempsey would finish the scoring in the 70th minute.  He scored on a strike 25 yards away. This goal was assisted by Zoltan Gera. Fulham were up 6 - 0. That would be the final score of the game.

This was an easy victory for Fulham. They will next play Saturday at Blackpool. Let's see if the Cottagers can actually get a victory on the road.
