Here is my player profile of Fulham captain Danny Murphy. Danny has been an integral part of the team since joining in 2007. As a central midfielder he has the ability to really dictate the play for Fulham. He is an incredible passer who can really set up the strikers up front. Danny Murphy was born in Chester England in 1977. His youth career began as a trainee with Crew Alexandra. He also went on trial with Manchester United. His senior career also began with Crew Alexandra. He actually helped his club move up divisions while a member of the club. Murphy was a player for Crewe Alexandra from 1993 - 1997. Playing for Crew Alexandra got him noticed.

Murphy's professional career really took off when he made the move to Liverpool. He played for them from 1997 - 2004. He was a part of a club in 2001 that won the League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup. Murphy is known very well by Manchester United fans. He had an uncanny ability of scoring the winning goal against Manchester United. He did this three times for Liverpool.
After his time at Liverpool he moved on to Charlton Athletic. He played there between 2004 - 2006. He then moved on to play at Tottenham. He was there starting January 31st, 2006. He played at Tottenham through the end of the 2006 - 2007 season.
On August 31st, 2007 Murphy came to Craven Cottage to play for Fulham. Murphy was a big part of the club that fought off relegation in the 2007 - 2008 season. In fact, in the final game of the season Murphy scored the winning goal against Portsmouth to keep Fulham in the Premier League. The next season Danny Murphy became captain for the Cottagers. Murphy has been a solid stabilizing figure for Fulham ever since. He controls the middle of the field. When his passing is on Murphy can really help put Fulham in great situations to succeed. He is a very valuable member of the club.
What to Look For
First, He is a great passer and does an incredible job of setting the tempo for Fulham. When he cannot play you can tell the difference in the club. He is a true captain.
Second, He is wonderful at taking penalty kicks. When Fulham need someone to take a penalty kick it is usually Murphy who takes it. More important is he hardly misses on penalty kicks,
Third, He has a great shot when he has a chance to score. He has also continued his ability to score against Manchester United. In a game last season he scored the opening goal against Manchester United at Craven Cottage. Fulham went on to win this match.
In concluding, Danny Murphy has been a very valuable member of Fulham Football Club. He is like a coach on the pitch. He deserves to be the team captain.
