At long last it seems manager Mark Hughes is prepared to strike up a deal with captain Danny Murphy over the option of extending his contract.
The 33 year-old's deal is set to run out over the Summer and no word had been heard from either camp with regards to any new contract being placed on the table. However, an agreement now seems far closer, with Hughes informing the media that a new deal is pretty-much imminent.
'We are still talking but we are very hopeful that a deal will be concluded very quickly' said Sparky.
'There's a will to do it on both sides. Danny's a fit guy, leads his life well, and there's no reason why he cannot play at the top level for a number of years.'
It must be said that despite the ever-growing average age of our squad, this would be a sound piece of business for both parties. Even with his weary legs, Murphy offers us that little bit extra in midfield that can't be matched by many others in the game. His intelligence on the ball and eye for a pass is second-to-none and I wouldn't be surprised to see the skipper finish his career here at Fulham.
Here's to Danny!
