Fulham are favourites to land the signature of highly rated Darlington youngster Dan Burn, after the 18-year-old met with the club on the weekend.
Burn has been the subject of plenty of interest from a number of clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City, but Fulham leads the race: the defender was excused from the Conference club to undergo a medical at Craven Cottage.
An offer has been made - Darlington are said to be looking for a fee of £260,000 - but Quakers manager Mark Cooper said that it's important to him that Burn "goes to the right club, a club that will look after him and fulfil his potential. It's not a piece of meat that we're selling," he said.

Another day, another former Ajax boss linked with Fulham. It hasn't taken long for the Daily Mirror to conclude that Louis van Gaal is bound for the Premier League: he was sacked on the weekend by Bayern Munich.
The Mirror names four possible destinations for the ex-Barcelona gaffer, with Fulham and Villa supposedly "contenders" for his signature. City and Liverpool are also mentioned as the staff at Mirror HQ well and truly hedge their bets in the spirit of Grand National weekend.
Goal.com isn't so sure that van Gaal is England-bound, instead mentioning him as a possible candidate to take over at Juventus.
Fulham's away record was poor under Roy Hodgson and that has remained the same under Mark Hughes, though this stat stood out in a piece waxing lyrical about Nani.
Despite having won only one game on the road this season (against Stoke), until Saturday Fulham's defeats on the road have been limited to a one goal margin. In a season where the bottom half of the table is very congested, goal difference could be crucial.
Saturday was also the first time Fulham have been beaten by more than one goal on their travels this season, and yet Ferguson was not satisfied. United's manager argued the meticulous standards he demanded had not been kept, and it was true that Fulham, with three shots in the opening 10 minutes, troubled the home side at times.

Mark Hughes thinks Fulham's poor record at Old Trafford might have played a role in Saturday's defeat, as the Whites slumped to 18 defeats from 19 on the road against United.
"At times this season we have gone to places where the scars of previous visits have come back to haunt us. That was the case again," Hughes said.
