Jol wants QPR striker and will battle rivals for French star

After losing both Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson to his West London rivals, the Fulham boss is willing to look at forward, Jamie Mackie

Martin Jol is planning a raid on Queens Park Rangers for striker, Jamie Mackie, if the Daily Mirror is to be believed.

The 27 year-old forward has been one of Rangers' most consistent players so far this campaign but, with Harry Redknapp now in the Loftus Road hot seat, the Scot is fearing for his place in the first team.

Despite having impressed, his new manager is set to make myriad changes in the January transfer window, including an audacious move for former Chelsea striker, Nicholas Anelka.

It would leave Mackie out in the cold and Jol would, supposedly, be more than willing to offer him a lifeline.

The Fulham boss is also preparing a move for France Under-21 midfielder Yacouba Sylla, according to the Daily Mail, but, again, will be up against QPR.

Apparently, Redknapp will be free to spend a £10 million budget next month and Sylla, who plays for Ligue 2 side Clermont, is high on his wish list.

Jol, though, will also be free to spend over January with the backing of chairman, Mohammed Al Fayed, who made a significant profit on player sales over the summer.
