Still no bids from Fulham or Newcastle for Douglas confirms Twente Chairman

During the last 24 hours, there have been various reports of interest from Fulham and Newcastle in FC Twente's impressive centre back, Douglas. Yesterday afternoon, there were further reports that Fulham had seen a €5.5 million bid accepted and his representatives were in London to negotiate terms. Now whilst his representatives may well have been in London, no bid has been accepted or even made for the player yet. Twente chairman Joop Munstermann confirmed in today's Dutch paper De Telegraaf "That's not true that we've accepted a bid, we've not even received one yet".

He then goes on to confirm that if they receive a good bid, he can leave as he's in the last year of his contract but if not, then he'll see out the last year with the Dutch team.

All this talk of the deal being done then is obviously premature as no one has bid yet but it sounds like his agents are working hard to get a deal done to move him on.
