Chris Baird is in discussion with West Bromwich Albion over a possible deadline day move to the Baggies, according to the Fulham Chronicle.
The midfielder-cum-defender has been in and out of the first team this season and, with his contract ending at the close of the season, Martin Jol is happy to cash in on the player now.
With Emmanuel Frimpong already signed and Eyong Enoh potentially on his way to Fulham, Baird's role in the squad becomes difficult to ascertain and, as such, he is eager to gain first team football elsewhere.
Undoubtedly, though, we'd miss his versatility. Though he's been deployed in a deep midfield role regularly, he is naturally a defender, well adept at playing on either flank or at centre back.
With a defence that is becoming thin on numbers, the assurance of Baird's capabilities across the back line would be sorely missed.
