Martin Jol has confirmed that a deal to bring 19 year-old Dutchman Chris David to the club has been agreed.
The move has been in the offing since the summer, when it was widely reported that the player had already in fact signed. This was, it was eventually revealed, not the case, but it was clear that Jol was eager to land his man.
And the Fulham boss today confirmed the signing had finally been completed, ending months of speculation and false reports.
"I am very happy we have got him," said Jol, ahead of the visit of Blackpool tomorrow.
"He has signed and he is here."
David is considered to be a player of huge potential, having been voted, as revealed by Jol, as the player of the year among all the academies in the Netherlands.
Generally an attacking midfielder, the 19 year old can also play up front but it's highly unlikely that he will feature any time soon, with Fulham's manager suggesting he will need time to adapt to the English game.
Jol said: "He is an exciting talent but he will need at least six months of a year to adapt. Hopefully he will do it quicker.
"He is a very, very good talent."
