Another day, another transfer rumor.
Fulham supporters have long pined for a deep-lying playmaker to fill the Danny Murphy shaped hole that has existed in the Fulham midfield since the former club captain left West London in 2012. Steven Defour, part of the present golden generation of Belgian players and current FC Porto employee, is the latest such player to be linked with a more to Craven Cottage.
I'm filing this one under the "Please, please, please let this happen" heading. Defour was linked with a move to Manchester United not so long ago, but FC Porto are a notoriously difficult club with which to negotiate and my guy says that if it happens at all it will be as a loan move.
The 25 year-old Defour plays a role that one could build a team around, so it would be ideal to secure a permanent move for the Belgian, but given Fulham's current plight, a loan deal wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. For now, it's wait and see, but with fingers firmly crossed.
