Transfer Rumor: Ryan Bertrand in for Fulham, Dimitar Berbatov out, Simon Makienok as his replacement?

A report in the Guardian is stating that Fulham is looking to bring in Chelsea Fullback Ryan Bertrand.

Steve Bardens

I think Ryan Bertrand could be a very good pickup. He's a better left back option than either Kieran Richardson or John Arne Riise. However, there is a slight problem. I've seen no indication that Chelsea wants to sell him, and it would just be a loan. That runs into a problem. Clubs are limited to two domestic loans. It wasn't clear before whether that meant loans from with in the Premier League, or all domestic leagues. Fulham Communications Director Sarah Brookes cleared that up on twitter.

That would seem to imply that Fulham are out of loans with both Adel Taarabt and Darren Bent already in house. Would that mean one of them goes back? Taarabt has looked much better than Bent, so I'd like to see him stay. It wouldn't bother me at all to send Bent back. But that might require Fulham to pay some money back to Villa.

Plus, as the report also states, Dimitar Berbatov is expected to leave. If so, does the club really want to lose Bent? That would leave Taarabt, Hugo Rodallega, and youth players as the only options up top. They would absolutely have to buy a striker if that were the case.

Again the article has that covered, linking Fulham to Denmark international and Bronby striker Simon Makienok. He's been linked to Fulham by other sources, but seems to be playing coy.

Is this all just silly talk, or is this something that could happen? Your guess is as good as mine. What are your thoughts?
