Latest Fulham Transfer Rumors

I know everyone is probably caught up with the world cup, watching Bryan Ruiz rebuild his value. However, the club football season never really ends. Let's take a look at the latest rumors.

Dean Mouhtaropoulos

As no shock to anyone, Konstantinous Mitroglou appears to be on his way out. If the rumors are true, it's a move that makes a lot of sense. London 24 is reporting that he's heading to Besiktas on a loan. And if this tweet (and Google Translate) is to be believed, the Turkish club may have agreed to take on most of the salary.

This is similar to what QPR did with Loic Remey. Loan him out for a year to get his wages off the books and let him rebuild value. Then upon promotion, you can bring him back or choose to sell him on.

With Mitroglou gone however, you're looking at asking a lot of Marcelo Trotta, Cauley Woodrow, and Moussa Dembele to lead the line with only Hugo Rodallega in reserve. Which is probably why Fulham keep getting linked to Leeds United Striker Ro ss McCormack. At the original offer of £5M, I would approve of that move. However, Leeds seems to be asking for upwards of £9M. At that price I have to agree with Kristian Balkin's piece in Metro that the club should move on. At that price you'd be better off finding a lower priced player and using the extra money for salary on him.

The defense has already begun to be addressed with the signing of Shaun Hutchinson. That was a good buy low move that has little risk and a lot of upside. The center back position is now fairly deep but the team still lack fullbacks. That may be changed with a signing of Jason Davidson. If reports are to be believed he's already agreed to terms with the club. That shores up the left back position quite nicely. If Kieran Richardson and Fernando Amorebieta stick around, that would be at least three deep there. Now the focus needs to shift to a right back.

Sticking with Australia, the club is also rumored to have come to terms with 21 year old Adam Taggart. This is the kind of move that the club would make if Marcello Trotta is to be sold. He's rumored to want to go, and a signing like this would portend that.

Finally, the club may have found a place for Maarten Stekelenburg to go. Reports are that he could be loaned to Sevilla. I'd rather see him sold, but just getting his salary off the books would be good.

So those are the rumors for now. Hopefully some of them will become concrete after the World Cup.
