Sone Aluko has seamlessly adapted to life in his new role, since being re-established as a wide midfielder. The explosive forward had previously spent the majority of the season’s games behind the lone striker.
Slavisa Jokanovic has expressed his delight in Aluko's resurgence in form, stating, “I am very happy for Sone getting this award as he has worked hard for the team over the past months, so it is a good reward for him."
The Nigerian returned to his scintillating best, using his blistering pace and trickery to unlock defenses. Aluko’s form came off the back of a jeering display as Fulham suffered a 2-1 defeat to the hands of local rivals QPR at the start of October.
The tricky forward quickly restored faith with the Fulham faithful, with an impressive solo goal against Barnsley.
The Nigerian continued to rebuild any burnt bridges with an Man of the Match performance, as his hat-trick of assists helped seal Fulham’s romping display as they beat Huddersfield Town 5-0 at Craven Cottage.
When awarded with the EFL Player of the Month award for October, Aluko annouced, “Personally it’s a great feeling to be recognized with this award. It’s a nice feeling to be publicly rewarded for your efforts.”
Aluko acknowledges the teams contributions as he humbly continued with, “Ultimately I think it’s a team award. I wouldn’t get this award if the team weren’t winning and it’s a credit to my team-mates and all the staff who have provided me with a platform to play well on.”
“The results have gone our way recently and because of this I’ve been able to show my best form"
Lets hope that The Cottagers can continue their latest run of form, when the Championship returns next weekend after the international break.
