What do you do when your best player tries to leave in the winter and you don't want to let him go? You tear up his deal and give him a new one. You honestly can't blame McCormack that much for thinking about leaving. When he signed for Fulham, he was probably thinking that he could go up to the Premier League with them. After 18 months at the club, he has realized it will be another 18 months at best until he gets that chance. With a team like Middlesbrough coming after him, he saw a good chance to take his skills to the next level. Fulham wisely didn't want to sell their best player. This was probably the only way to keep him happy.
I'm glad Ross is staying. I hope he reaches his goal to be the top scorer in the league this year. I've never met him, but he seems like a great guy. Even after being booed at Leeds every time he touched the ball he was still willing to do this.

That's the kind of player I want to have at Fulham. Now if only Moussa Dembele, Dan Burn, and Emerson Hyndman could follow his lead and sign new deals.
