Watch Reading 2 Fulham 2

Fulham come away with a road draw against a team ahead of them on the table. That's not the worse thing in the world.

In many of the recent fixtures, looking at the statistics, it was hard to see how Fulham didn't come away with a result. In this fixture however, the opposite was true. If you only saw the mach statistics, you'd have assumed Reading probably won the match. Maybe Fulham's luck is finally turning?

Fulham had just eight shots total in this match and only three (three!) from the run of play. Getting a goal from that kind of offensive showing isn't very likely, yet Fulham managed to do so. Combined with the made penalty, Fulham was able to draw a game in which they gave eighteen shots and managed only 46% of the possession. Their pass completion was also poor at only 70%. Of course, eighteen shots might not be so bad if they didn't come from dangerous areas, but twelve of those shots were from inside the six or eighteen yard box. Fulham only manged three of those shots.

We've seen that Slavisa is willing to change up formations, this time going with a 4-4-1-1 with McCormack playing on the wing. I'm not sure if it was the formation, the personnel, or something else, but this isn't a Fulham performance I'd like to see repeated. Fulham have a quick turn around against a tough opponent with Burnley. That might be a tough match to get points in, but if they can, the rest of the schedule sets up well for them.
