Slavisa Jokanovic spoke yesterday following a 3-0 preseason win over Brighton & Hove Albion. It is clear that he has high hopes for the team, citing the “ambition” that the players have, however when questioned about the favorable preseason results and performance of the younger players, like every manager in his position he stayed away from guaranteeing any sort of result and reminded everyone that the team is “still with zero points.”
He also addressed the upcoming Newcastle match by stating that he prefers to take the season game by game rather than become concerned with when the more talented teams are played in the season calendar.
Jokanovic and the rest of the squad now travel to Portugal and Spain to round out the preseason before heading home to face recently relegated Newcastle and head coach Rafa Benitez.
