Rui Fonte is a signing that has been highly anticipated by many Fulham fans. The big money striker has made a name for himself in Portugal by captaining Braga to a fifth place finish in Liga NOS. After the signing of Aboubakar Kamara, Fulham still seemed to be lacking a clinical finisher in attack. Fulham have now found the missing link in Rui Fonte, the striker stands tall at 5’11”, and is very good in the air. He also can shoot with either foot, and is equally impressive with both. He will fill the hole left by Chris Martin, and will show more quality. Fonte is better at drawing other players into the game with his excellent movement and passing, and looks to be just as good, if not better of a finisher. A final important aspect of Fonte’s game is his work ethic, Braga have described him as a warrior, something Chris Martin was not, and as a true leader. The team could do with an experienced, powerful striker, who is a strong leader, and role model for the younger players. Fonte can fill all of those holes.
