As expected, another fixture will take place without Maxime Le Marchand and Ryan Sessegnon due to injury. However, it does look like Claudio Ranieri will experiment with a 3-5-2 formation this time around: a system that was suggested by this website before. We’ll see how it works against a Newcastle team that will also play more of a conservative style.
As a result in the change in formation, Denis Odoi looks to be playing in a much preferred center back role with Tim Ream and Alfie Mawson while Cyrus Christie and Joe Bryan will be expected to push further forward as wing backs. The midfield stays the same while Andre Schürrle and Aleksander Mitrovic are expected to work together up front. With all these changes, the most interesting feature will be how far forward Tom Cairney will be in today’s contest.
As for Newcastle, they’ll continue to play in their usual 4-4-1-1 system under Rafa Benitez. There is a bit of squad rotation going on as Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schär and Ki Sung-Yeung are in the lineup instead of D’Andre Yedlin, Frederico Fernandez and Jonjo Shelvey. In fact, the last of those three names not starting isn’t even on the bench as the veteran midfielder is dealing with a thigh injury.
Once again, here’s to a chance to move away from the bottom of the Premier League table!
